Dow Jones Risk & Compliance provides third party risk management and regulatory compliance solutions. Working with clients across the globe, we have created products and services to help companies evaluate third party risks quickly and with confidence.

We deliver research tools and services for on-boarding, vetting and investigation to help companies comply with anti-money laundering, anti-corruption and economic sanctions regulations in mitigating third party risk. With a global team of expert researchers, flexible delivery options and enriched third party risk data, our suite of compliance solutions empower compliance professionals to quickly and efficiently reduce risks while conserving limited resources.

The Manager is responsible for leading a team of Research Editors in Barcelona. The team’s role is to research in detail the ownership of companies by sanctioned parties and to record and update their findings in support of the Sanctions Control & Ownership database, a global reference database of entities owned or controlled by sanctioned parties. The team is also responsible for researching and producing enhanced due diligence reports on companies and individuals to support the Dow Jones Due Diligence business. In order to accomplish this goal, the manager must be able to maintain a team of motivated researchers, think strategically about the most effective use of team resources and promote and develop automated workflows to achieve ambitious team goals.

The Manager reports to the Director and plays a key role in the continuing market success of Risk & Compliance. The Manager works closely with a global team of peers in different time zones and works to ensure that Risk & Compliance content is of the highest quality, kept up to date and meets client requirements in terms of consistency and accuracy of content and timeliness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage a team of researchers by communicating team objectives and goals, monitoring and evaluating performance, and allocating available resources

  • Supervise, support, and develop team to maximize potential through motivation, coaching, encouragement, and delegation

  • Develop team members and maximize career opportunities for key personnel

  • Provide regular and transparent communication across the team regarding its performance to ensure company goals are met

  • Collaborate and engage with other departments, and be a knowledgeable and trustworthy business partner with stakeholders

  • Foster a collaborative team environment where people work together and ideas for workflow improvements are created and shared freely

  • Responsible for recruitment, defining goals, monitoring data quality and meeting key performance indicators (KPI) with a focus on both quality and quantity metrics

  • Support and contribute to team goals of maximizing efficiency via automation and workflow enhancements working as appropriate with key stakeholders in the R&C team, Strategic Services and Technology

  • Ensure the timely research of the corporate holdings owned by newly sanctioned people and entities and the creation and maintenance of complete and accurate entity profiles

  • Communicate accurately, promptly and professionally in response to client/sales queries in alignment with a strong customer focus as part of Dow Jones’s service obligations to its clients

  • Support the Team Director and the rest of the Risk & Compliance management team by assessing key business needs in an agile environment and making data driven decisions

  • Ability to adapt readily to changing customer expectations and allocate resources appropriately

  • Ability to take ownership and responsibility for yourself, your team, projects and associated issues

  • Attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines

  • Fast, efficient and quality-focused work ethic

  • Curiosity, a desire to learn and a willingness to continually learn new skills

  • Experience as a manager is advantageous

  • Excellent keyboard skills and spreadsheet skills

  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is essential. Knowledge of a Cyrillic language is an advantage.

  • Education to degree level.
