Editor, Financial News
Location – London
Salary - Competitive
FINANCIAL NEWS is looking for a skilled London-based editor to lead a team of energetic, knowledgeable and well-sourced journalists covering some of the most important stories in the news today.
FN is a digital-first publication from Dow Jones Media Group focused on the financial services industry. Candidates for the FN editor role should be deeply familiar with the key issues affecting the sector. Our readers have broad interests from Brexit to bond yields, smart beta to sterling; our coverage includes investment banks and brokers, fintech startups and hedge funds, private equity and public pension plans. If it affects financial services, FN will be on top of it.
As FN Editor, the successful candidate will work closely with reporters and editors on complex topics. He or she will have experience of leading in a digital-first newsroom. The ability to work under tight deadlines and on a wide range of financial sector subjects is critical, as is a high level of financial and economic literacy. The successful candidate needs to be comfortable building sources at the very highest levels and should relish setting the agenda on stories.
The candidate would also be expected to plan coverage of the most important financial topics and work with staff to develop their stories and skills. He or she will encourage reporters and editors to seek out new ways to tell stories beyond traditional written word – video, podcasts and events should play a significant part of FN’s future too. The FN Editor is also an ambassador and spokesperson for our publication. Above all, the role requires a serious, intelligent and ambitious journalist who will seek to put FN at the heart of the issues affecting our readers.
