Dow Jones Market Data Manager in PRINCETON, New Jersey

Job Description:

Market Data Manager is a leadership role on the Market Data team within Data Strategy. This roleleads and manages a team responsible for acquisition, maintenance and quality assurance of data consumed via shared services within Professional Information Business (PIB) and consumer products, including The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires. The Manager will ensure Dow Jones standards for timeliness, accuracy and completeness are upheld and will provide adequate staffing levels to meet production deadlines. The Manager possesses deep knowledge of various market data systems and processes involved in the publication of data to Dow Jones’ products and services in order to troubleshoot and resolve problems when they occur. The Manager oversees training and evaluation of staff as well as prioritization of assignments. The Manager looks for opportunities to implement new processes with the ultimate goal of improving overall team productivity. This role works with other managers to best accomplish the goals of the broader group and leads market data projects as required.

The role reports to the Director, Market Data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Listings Symbology team

  • Certify all market data content for which the team is responsible meets or exceeds timeliness, completeness and accuracy metrics

  • Ensure customer inquiries, both internal and external, are treated with the appropriate level of urgency

  • Provide requirements to Technology team when system changes and/or enhancements are needed

  • Periodic evaluation of staff

  • Prioritization of team assignments

  • Lead/coordinate projects involving market data as needed

Position Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience in the field

  • FISD Financial Information Associate (FIA) certification preferred

  • Solid leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize tasks appropriately

  • Detail-orientation, thoroughness and reliability

  • Must be able to clearly relay assignments

  • Knowledge of global financial markets and associated concepts

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
