Dow Jones Market Data Analyst in PRINCETON, New Jersey

Job Description:

The Market Data Analyst is a member of the Market Data team within Data Strategy that delivers data to Dow Jones products worldwide. The Market Data Analyst’s primary responsibilities will be to provide value-added research to reporters and editors to enhance stories and associated infographics as well as to deliver properly formatted data to downstream systems. The Market Data Analyst will also take part in special projects. The role will require an in-depth knowledge of market data, along with the systems and applications used to acquire process and maintain the data. A previous background in market data and a proven ability to manipulate complex data sets is essential. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, an effective communicator and comfortable multitasking in a dynamic environment.

The role reports to the Market Data Manager (Operations).

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor global financial markets in order to provide value-added research to reporters and editors on important financial market events and milestones

  • Assist Data Operations Manager in coordinating team engagements with News; this includes daily priorities as well as coverage of special market events

  • Respond with urgency to both internal and external data queries

  • Oversee the acquisition and maintenance of global financial data derived from multiple sources and stored in proprietary databases. Ensure that the data has been received in the proper format at the appropriate time, is correct, and is suitable for the intended end use.

  • Use data integrity tools to identify erroneous data points. Troubleshoot and resolve quality issues with sourced, processed and/or consolidated data, irrespective of cause.

  • Training other members of team

  • Other tasks and projects in support of Data Strategy, Product and News as required

Position Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience in the field

  • FISD Financial Information Associate (FIA) certification preferred

  • Detail-orientation, thoroughness and reliability

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize tasks appropriately

  • Strong knowledge of global financial markets and associated concepts

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
