Video & Audio Product Lead
Define the WSJ’s digital video and audio product both on and off platform, starting with a deep analysis of the current product offering, both from a content and UX standpoint
Own the short- and long-term roadmaps for video across WSJ’s digital products, ensuring video and audio are seamlessly integrated into the WSJ’s digital offerings
Partner with the video team, audio team and digital news desk to evaluate new product needs and opportunities
Work with newsroom and commercial stakeholders to develop new storytelling formats and reader experiences focused on mobile, such as vertical video, Read to me capabilities, podcasts, voice activation features, AR and VR
Align work with directives that emerge from 2020, and shape them where and when appropriate
Work closely with the business development and audience teams to maintain and develop partnerships like Amazon alexa, Google Home, Roku, iTunes, Apple TV, Snapchat, Facebook Live, etc.
Incorporate advertising and net growth roadmaps into the core app one, and work with those team to flesh out their requirements and define user experience
Communicate with stakeholders to keep all teams informed on product releases, performance metrics, future rollouts and activity with video and audio products. Present to the ELT quarterly on the state of video and audio both inside and outside the company.
Be the point of contact to initiate new products and projects with regard to video and audio
Be a voice for the user as we look to improve the video and audio experiences on WSJ platforms. by spearheading user testing initiatives and frequent touch points with Customer Service
Work closely with the audience development team, identify opportunities to introduce WSJ video and audio content to new audiences and on new platforms
Perform vendor analysis and recommend integrations where it makes sense
Author requirements and gather user feedback. Write user stories and product requirements documents
Build a strong relationship between audience and news teams to drive video and audio strategy forward
Work with key stakeholders, define, analyze and report on product KPIs
Work in an agile fashion, including sprints, sprint reviews, sprint planning, retrospectives and grooming sessions. Architect the process that works for the team, and make sure it is adhered to religiously.
Be the primary resource for best practices, industry trends and competitive landscape
Use A/B testing tools to optimize performance and revenue opportunities
Be fearless in launching, experimenting, and shuttering products when it is time
Shepherd video and audio projects and be the accountable person from Discovery all the way through Launch and Go to Market. Ensure successful launch of all video and audio projects.
Be relentless in helping shift the mindset in the newsroom to thinking about mobile before anything else
