Dow Jones Graphics Editor, 3D & Animation in NEW YORK, New York

Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal is seeking a 3D and animation journalist to join its award-winning Visuals team in New York City. The candidate will be responsible for conceiving, designing and creating 3D models and animations to explain the news with a focus on mobile audiences. This is a rare opportunity to work with world-class photographers, editors, reporters, designers, developers and other visual journalists tocreate rich, storytelling experiences, both for breaking news as well as planned features.Topic areas include global news, business, finance, markets and lifestyles. The ideal candidate must be passionate about conveying complex information clearly and accurately using skills in data, design and storytelling. Our work is seen by millions of people every day around the world and we are committed to the growth of visual journalism.

Job requirements:

  • Expertise in Cinema 4D, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator.

  • Knowledge of web standards, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and relevant code libraries such as JQuery, D3.js, three.js and WebGL is a big plus.

  • Excellent design aesthetic and typographic skills.

  • Able to work quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines.

  • Able to help reporters and editors learn new skills that will contribute to their visual storytelling.

  • The initiative to take on and learn new tasks in a fast-moving environment.

  • Ability to shoot video is a plus

  • Excellent communication skills.
